Always Absolutely, Totally Dependent Upon Krishna

Our position is that we are totally dependent upon Krishna for everything. Even our very existence depends upon Him. We are not self-manifested. We are Krishna-manifested. We exist only because Krishna is manifesting us from Himself at every minute. Our every breath depends upon Krishna. Our power of digestion depends on Krishna. Our power of speech and hearing depend on Krishna. Even our ability to think depends on Krishna. The list is endless. So there is no question of deciding whether we should depend on Krishna or not. By the very nature of reality we are absolutely, totally dependent upon Krishna in all times, places, and circumstances.

This reminds me of the old saying, "If you can't beat him, join him." So this the only intelligent thing to do. Since we are always completely dependent upon Krishna, we should acknowledge this and always think, speak, and act in accordance with this reality. This is called Krishna consciousness. And this is the only sane attitude or mentality to have because every other viewpoint is sheer madness, total insanity.

Question: Back to Godhead is a Type of Liberation?

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I'd like to ask a question. I am confused to understand what is the difference between a person who is aspiring for liberation (of which are of 5 types as mentioned in Srila Prabhupada's books) and a devotee who is aspiring to go back home, back to Godhead. Aren't both the same? If not, then what is the fine line which make both of them different from each other?

Kindly guide.

Answer: Yes

In the Nectar of Devotion Srila Prabhupada describes the five types of liberation as follows:

"There are five kinds of liberation, namely to become one with the Lord, to live with the Supreme Lord on the same planet, to have the same features as the Lord, to enjoy the same opulences as the Lord and to live as a companion of the Lord. A devotee, what to speak of rejecting material sense gratification, does not even want any of the five kinds of liberation. He is satisfied simply by discharging loving service to the Lord. That is the characteristic of pure devotion.”

Aspiring to go back to Godhead is the desire to live with the Supreme Lord on the same planet. So it is one of the five types of liberation. Such a desire is favorable for helping one to achieve the perfectional stage of pure devotional service. However, when one achieves that perfectional stage he is situated beyond desiring any of the five kinds of liberation because he is completely satisfied by rendering loving service to His beloved Lord Krishna whether in this material world or in the spiritual world.
