What to Do When You are Bewildered?

My dear Godbrother, Balabhadra Bhattacarya Prabhu, told me forty years ago when we were brahmacaris together in Atlanta that when he gets bewildered he reads Prabhupada's books. His advice was so wonderful that I have remembered it even after these many decades. The fact remains that there is no shelter anywhere in all of existence like Prabhupada's books.

Question: Is No Desire for Wealth Practical?

Dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to you.

Why does Chaitanya Mahaprabhu say in Siksastaka Prayer 4, "I have no desire for wealth, women, or followers."? If we do not have money, how will we do bhakti? Similarly if we do not have relatives, friends etc then who will take care of us when we become ill or old? I always find it difficult to understand this prayer, especially the "na dhanam-no wealth" aspect.

Answer: Everything for Krishna is Perfection

Wealth, relatives, etc are all useless without Krishna consciousness. Attachment to them is the source of so many miseries. They are are so many zeros. Even if you have enormous wealth and are surrounded by so many relatives all you have is a row or zeros:

0000000000000000000

Even you if have twenty zeros, all you have is zero. Because your material assets cannot buy you any genuine happiness. But if you put a one in front of your twenty zeros, they become a very valuable asset:

100,000,000,000,000,000,000

You now have 100 quadrillion in assets.

That one is Krishna.

So if you will engage all of your material assets in Krishna’s service, they will become the most
valuable assets.
