Que Sera Sera--Whatever Will Be Will Be

When I was a small child there was a very popular song on the radio, which made it to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 lilst, called "Que Sera Sera", which means in Spanish, "Whatever will be will be." Now in my adult life after having been blessed with the supreme wealth of Vedic knowledge, I can appreciate the wisdom expressed in this song even more in this way: We can't change what is going to happen to us, but we can change how we perceive it and how we relate with it.

It is an unalterable fact that by the influence of the material energy we will get sick, get old, and die. What will be, will be. But how we relate with it will be either our defeat or success. If we humbly accept whatever happens to us, whether it superficially appears to be good or bad, as the highest good, the special mercy of Krishna to help us come closer to Him, we will always be peaceful and happy no matter what happens. But on the other hand, if we proudly gloat over our successes giving ourselves all all credit for them, we will naturally also bitterly lament our inevitable failures. In such a feverish self-centered state we will never be able to experience true peace and happiness.

So just accept your circumstances, whatever they may, as Krishna's special kindness upon you, and you will be one the happiness people in the entire universe.

Question: How to Stop Sinning?

Respected Dear Gurudeva.

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I am helpless. I don't know how to stop breaking the four principles. I have this bad habit. And this is a habit going on for years and years. I don't know how to stop it. Even if I try, I can't. But I always wish that someday I could.

Your useless student,
A.

Answer: Beg Krishna to Help You, and He Will

Intensely beg Krishna to help you and He will. Especially when the desire hits to break a principle at that time you should bow down in respectful obeisances before a picture of Lord Krishna begging for His protection. Do not get up from your obeisances until you have got your mind under control to not engage in that sinful activity. And if the desire comes back, get down in respectful obeisances again.
