Political Correctness or Follow the Bona Fide Guru?

If we become influenced by the material society, we will start to also embrace modern materialistic concepts such as the so-called political correctness doctrine, which totally disregards any material distinctions and is a slap in the face to the Lord Krishna's varnashram dharma system. Krishna consciousness, of course, is transcendental to varnashram dharma. But because we are still situated on the material plane, the system of varnashram dharma, if adopted under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, will help us become solidly situated on the transcendental plane. Artificially, prematurely renouncing it, will cause us to fall back into material consciousness.

Answer: A Devotee is Not Under Maya's Spell

Maya means illusion. One who is under the influence of maya misidentifies himself with his material body and foolishly considers himself to be the center of existence. In this state of ignorance he suffers like anything in this material world birth after birth. A devotee of Krishna, however, is not under the influence of maya because he is fully protected by Guru and Krishna by having fully surrendered unto them. He knows that he is not the center of existence, that it is only Krishna Who is the center of existence. Therefore instead of experiencing the temporality, ignorance, and misery which is the plight of the illusioned non-devotees, the devotee experiences eternity, knowledge, and bliss being reinstated in his eternal constitutional position as a servant of Krishna.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
