This material world is the land of the dead. Even though it may appear that everyone is alive here, the fact is that this is a place where everyone is dead because everyone is captivated by the bodily concept of life, misidentifying themselves with dead matter. Such misidentification forces the illusioned soul to remain perpetually in the cycle of birth, death, old age, and disease until he is fortunate enough to be enlightened with transcendental knowledge and thus become liberated from his imprisonment within the land of the dead and enter into an eternal youthful existence, full of bliss, and full of knowledge.

Question: Why Oppose Mayavadis?

Dear Gurudeva,
Namaste.

Your Thought for the Day on Saturday 11 August 2012, in which you mentioned your rejection of Mayavadi philosophy, prompted me to ask the following questions:

In what way Mayavadis affect your mission?
Are they not human beings desiring to lead their own life the way they decide?
What is the authority you have to oppose Mayavadis?
Why not concentrate on your mission and solve all the problems of the world ?

Answer: We Only Oppose Untruth

We have nothing against anyone including the Mayavadis. We love everyone as our brothers and sisters. Because we love everyone we want everyone to be happy. This is why we naturally speak out against Mayavadi philosophy, the erroneous concept that the living being is Himself God. It is this false conception that brought us into the world of birth and death in the first place. And it is this false concept that will keep us suffering in the wheel of birth and death until we realize that we are God's eternal servants and fully surrender ourselves at His lotus feet. When people throughout the world realize that they are not after all the center of the universe, that they are instead the eternal servants of Krishna or God, all the world's problems with be solved. This is our mission. On the order of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and for the benefit of all living beings it is our duty to oppose all philosophical conclusions which negate the teachings of the Lord. Therefore because we love everyone including the Mayavadis, we are against Mayavadi philosophy.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
