Question: Is Krishna the Origin of Lord Shiva?

I request you to kindly cite scriptural reference for your statement that Lord Shiva is born from the forehead of Brahma. I have a few friends who are from the Smarta subsect of Brahmanas. They believe that Shiva is causeless and eternally present, on the same level as Vishnu. How do I convince them? Could you please give me as many relevant references as possible?

Answer: Yes. Confirmed in Gita and Brahma-samhita

You cannot convince someone who refuses to be convinced. If they are open minded and willing to accept sastric evidence from the Bhagavad-gita, you can tell them that Krishna clearly states in the Bhagavad-gita 10:8 that everything emanates from Him. Also, it is confirmed in the Brahma-samhita 5:1 that Krishna is the origin of everything. When Shiva appears in this world he does so by coming out from the forehead of Lord Brahma. This is confirmed in the 3rd Canto, Chapter 12 of the Srimad Bhagavatam.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi.
