The Ultimate Super Star

In this material world superstars come and go like shooting stars. They appear out of nowhere and enjoy their brief fame fling as the center of attention until they burn off their good karma and vanish into oblivion becoming completely forgotten. But there is a supreme superstar whose fame is ever-increasingly expanding for all of eternity, who is never forgotten. That supreme superstar is Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

It is said by Canakya Pandita that although life is certainly short for everyone, if one acts properly, his fame will remain for a generation. But when it comes to devotees of the Lord, there is a different principle. Just as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, is everlastingly famous, so those who are connected with the Lord through loving devotional service, the Lord's devotees, are also everlastingly famous.

So there is no need to strive for the fleeting fame which one can achieve in this material existence. One should simply strive for pure bhakti, and then whatever fame is required for his service to spread the Krishna consciousness movement all over the world will be wonderfully, personally provided by the Lord. This is confirmed as follows in the Bhagavad-gita 9.22:

ananyāś cintayanto māṁ
ye janāḥ paryupāsate
teṣāṁ nityābhiyuktānāṁ
yoga-kṣemaṁ vahāmy aham

"But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form -- to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have."

And this is further confirmed in the Bible in Matthew 6.33:

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, all these things shall be added unto you."

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
