The Nitya-Siddha Devotees

Srila Prabhupada wonderfully describes who is a nitya-siddha (eternally liberated) devotee of the Lord in his purport to Sri Caitanya Caritamrita Madhya 11.89 as follows:

"A devotee is always thinking of how better to serve Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and how to broadcast His name, fame and qualities throughout the world. One who is nitya-siddha has no business other than broadcasting the glories of the Lord all over the world according to his ability. Such people are already associates of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Therefore Narottama dasa Thakura says, nitya-siddha kari' mane. One should not think that because Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was personally present five hundred years ago, only His associates were liberated. Rather, Srila Narottama dasa Thakura says that anyone is a nitya-siddha if he acts on behalf of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu by spreading the glories of the holy name of the Lord. We should respect those devotees preaching the glories of the Lord as nitya-siddha and should not consider them conditioned."

Therefore we must always honor and respect such nitya-siddha devotees, never considering to be ordinary persons of this material world. Even though such nitya-siddhas, out of natural humility, do not advertise themselves as being nitya-siddhas, for our spiritual benefit we should always be very careful to give them the due honor and respect that they deserve.

Question: How to Give Birth to a Saintly Child?

Gurudeva,
My humble obeisances.

Please guide me how to give birth to a spiritually elevated, intelligent, beautiful child.

Seeking your blessings,

Rashmi

Answer: Follow these Guidelines

The first step for having a saintly, spiritually elevated child is that you and your husband should become spiritually elevated yourselves by taking shelter of and getting initiated by a bona fide spiritual master. Then as a married couple you should strictly avoid having intercourse for sex enjoyment. Sex should only be utilized for producing saintly children after receiving the blessings of your spiritual master for having a child. That sex should be had no more than once a month on the most fertile day on the month according to the wife's menstrual cycle and should not be engaged in unless the husband and wife have both chanted at least 50 rounds of the Hare Krishna mahamantra on japa mala beads. After pregnancy there should be constant glorification of Krishna going on for the benefit of the child within the womb. After birth the child should immediately be engaged in regularly attending the temple. He should be trained to sit and hear the lectures along with the parents and also to be fully engaged in devotional activities along the parents. For a child everything is an exciting adventure. So if you keep the child engaged in doing devotional service, he will relish it as an exciting adventure. Do not keep a television set in your home. The mundane programming of materialists will spoil his consciousness. Instead, keep the child always engaged along with you in Krishna conscious activities. If you parents are ideal devotees and you always keep your child engaged in assisting you in devotional service, your child will come out as a great devotee.
