Feed the Mouth, Not Your Rectum

Without God realization we are like a madman who doesn't know into which hole of his body to place his food. If we want taste, nourishment, and eradication of hunger from our eating, we must put the food into our mouths instead of into our eyes, ears, nose, or rectum. By putting the food into our mouth, every part of the body will receive the nutrition it needs. Similarly, the devotee knows that if he offers his loving service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it will then be wonderfully distributed to all living being throughout the entire universe.

Question How to Realize that Krishna is His Name

Please accept my humble obeisances.

How we can increase our faith in the chanting of the holy name? Many times we hear in Srila Prabhupada's lectures that Krishna's holy name is non-different from Krishna Himself. Is it possible for me that one day that I will fully realize within my self the significance of this statement?

Answer: You Can Personally Experience This

There is nothing more important for our spiritual progress than having strong, unflinching faith that Krishna and His name are the same. By carefully executing the process of Krishna consciousness, chanting the Lord's holy names with faith, while at the same time giving up sinful activities, you will gradually personally experience while chanting how you are directly associating with God Himself face-to-face, eye-to-eye in the form of His holy name.

In this connection the Padma Purana states:

"The holy name of Krishna is identical with Krishna and is like a cintamani gem, a touchstone. That name is Krishna personified in sound and is therefore perfectly transcendental and eternally liberated from material contamination."

And it is also stated by Bhaktivinode Thakur in the Harinama
Cintamani as follows:

"The Supreme Lord invested all His potencies in His transcendental name and offered it to the living entities. One who has sufficient faith in the holy name is eligible to chant it. One who chants Lord Krishna's name is properly executing his prescribed duties. The holy name is so potent that chanting is not dependent on conditions of time, place, rules, cleanliness, etc. Pious activities like giving charity, performing sacrifices and ablutions, and chanting of Vedic mantras are all regulated
by stringent rules. But the only prerequisite for chanting the holy name is faith. One who takes shelter of the holy name with unflinching faith will attain all perfection. The jiva in Kali-yuga must become free from deceit, enroll himself as a member in Lord Krishna's family of devotees, and continuously chant the holy name."

So if you want to increase your faith in Krishna's name, you should always remember these descriptions from the the Padma Purana and the Harinama Cintamani. These powerful sastric (scriptural) words will help you to increase your faith in the Lord's transcendental holy name. By faithful chanting you will be carried by the wings of Krishna's holy name beyond the coverings of this material existence into that sweet transcendental abode known the spiritual sky, where you will live an eternal blissful existence in the association of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

For those who lack faith we suggest that they try this process as an experiment by carefully following all of the instructions given by the spiritual master. By doing so they will be in for an amazing surprise as they begin to experience the transcendental awakening of Krishna consciousness within their hearts and gradually experience that they are in the presence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
