At the present moment our entire global civilization is drowning in a profusion of illusion and confusion. Thus now more than ever before, deep within their hearts everyone is yearning, hankering to be awakened to their original all blissful, full cognizant transcendental identities beyond their rotting, tempoary material bodies. Indeed, the whole world is waiting now to be awakened!

Thus those fortunate souls who have been blessed with the awakening of their dormant Krishna conscious and who share their Krishna consciousness wilth others will be instruments in the hands of Guru and Gauranga for bringing about the repiritualzation of our universe.

Question: How to Give Up Sex Desire?

Dear Sir,
After coming into spirituality I have given up some bad habits like drinking, smoking, non veg, etc. But one thing I am struggling to give up is sex desires. I want to know how is sex desire an obstacle in spiritual growth & how to give up this desire.

Answer: Get Higher Taste of Krishna Consciousness

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Sexual intercourse is the topmost of all material pleasures. It had to be this way, otherwise no one would want to go through the trouble of having children. It brings one very strongly into misidentifying oneself to be his material body. If semen is kept within the body it gives the body resistance against disease and the power to live longer. Plus it rises to the brain and increases ones ability to understand the science of God.

Sex indulgence and Krishna consciousness go ill together. If you want to be solidly situated in realization of your identity as an eternal spiritual being, qualitatively one with Lord Krishna, you have to use sex only for procreation and not for recreation. This is not difficult when you are fixed in Krishna consciousness because for a such a person who is getting the higher taste of love of God the pleasure derived from Krishna consciousness is a thousand times better than sex.

Lord Sri Krishna mentions this higher taste in the Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 2, Text 59:

viṣayā vinivartante
nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
rasa-varjaṁ raso 'py asya
paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate

"Though the embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, the taste for sense objects remains. But ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness."

So if one simply stops having sex, he will still feel lusty. But if he embraces Krishna consciousness as his very life and soul, he will be relishing a much higher pleasure. For such a person if lusty thoughts come, he simply spits at them.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
