Here's How to Rise Beyond Misery

Just as with seasonal changes we sometimes get disturbing excesses of heat and cold, in a similar way sometimes we experience pleasing and sometimes displeasing situations. So how to deal with these dualities?

In Chapter 2, Text 14 of the Bhagavad-gita Lord Sri Krishna enlightens Arjuna and most kindly gives us the hint how to weather these psychological storms:

mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya
śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ
āgamāpāyino 'nityās
tāṁs titikṣasva bhārata

"O son of Kuntī, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed."

Just as in our home we can go beyond the dualities of winter and summer by turning the heat on in the cold winter and the air conditioning on the hot summer, in a similar way by turning on our Krishna consciousness, which is transcendental to the dualities of material existence we can always find peace and happiness within no matter what is going on in the external energy, the situation of the world around us.

Question: Taste of Chanting Remains?

Dear Sir,
As you have mentioned that chanting gives us a higher taste. Does that taste always stays with us, or it is only there when we chant? When does it happen? Please talk about the taste in detail. Also will you be able to describe the taste?

as follows:

"Let there be all victory for the chanting of the holy name of
Lord Kṛṣṇa, which can cleanse the mirror of the heart and stop the miseries of the blazing fire of material existence. That chanting is the waxing moon that spreads the white lotus of
good fortune for all living entities. It is the life and soul of all
education. The chanting of the holy name of Kṛṣṇa expands
the blissful ocean of transcendental life. It gives a cooling
effect to everyone and enables one to taste full nectar at every step".

If you are chanting as much as possible and always in the mood of chanting, you can taste this most sublime nectar 24 hours a day in a festival of ever-increasing sweetness. It is sweeter than anything you can taste in this material world, even sweeter than what is tasted by demigods on the higher planets.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
