Why Am I Being Criticized for Being Too Strict?

I am hearing quite often now that when devotees are aspiring to accept me as their initiating spiritual master they are being told not to accept me as their spiritual master because I am too strict. Since I am purely presenting the teaching of Srila Prabhupada without any addition or subtraction, if I am too strict that means that Srila Prabhupada is too strict. This means that they are being advised not to follow Srila Prabhupada and that they are not being properly trained how to become situated in Krishna consciousness.

This also means that these critics of envious of me. What such envy means is described by Srila Prabhupada in a room conversation he was having on the Srimad Bhagavatam, First Canto, Chapter 10, Verse 11 in Delhi, India on 3 November 1973. Here's what Srila Prabhupada said:

"Even in the spiritual field, my Godbrothers are envious. You see? So as soon as you become successful, there will be many enemies. That is natural. That is the sign of success. In your business, if there are many enemies, competitor, that means you are successful."

I will not let the critics stop me from purely presenting Srila Prabhupada's teachings without adulteration. This must be done if our movement is going to successful. The critics can go on making propaganda against me as much as they want. But as Srila Prabhupada often stated, ""Let the dogs bark; the caravan will pass."

Question: How to Judge in Preaching

Hare Krishna, Gurudeva!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
All glories to the Vaisnavas!
All glories to Gaura Nitai!

Thank you for instructing on this matter. I have a question, which is puzzling me. You said in Thought for the Day (Nov 2, 2022) that we should tell everyone we meet to simply chant Hare Krishna and thus derive the greatest bliss. But one of the offences against the holy name is preaching to those who do not deserve it. My question is, how do we know who is sincere and eligible for being told "chant Hare Krishna"?

Thank you in advance for your response,
Maharshi Patel, attempting to serve you.

Answer: Krishna Gives the Intelligence

My Dear Maharishi,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Preaching has to be according to the audience. There is a saying, "Different strokes for different folks." So preaching has to be according to what can be understand by a particular person. A child can understand and be taught that one plus one equals two. But if we try to teach him calculus he will be bewildered.

If one is preaching sincerely on behalf of Guru and Gauranga, by Krishna's grace he will get the intelligence to understand the mentality of each person he is preaching to simply by their words, their tone of voice, and their facial expression. In this way he will be able to tailor fit his presentation of Krishna consciousness to make it comprehensible and appreciable by each particular person.

Srila Prabhupada's preaching is a perfect example of this.

I hope this meets you in the best of health.
