Question: Why the Soul is Punished?

Please accept my humble obeisance on to your lotus feet.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

In your answer to the question of transition between death and birth period, I want to ask, "Who do the the Yamadutas take for chastisement?". Is this the soul they take for punishment?

Because all the crimes has been done by the body driven by the mind and ego. And they got finished after the death of body. Then why soul is punished for all these crimes? Soul is a part of Krishna and it is pure by his nature.

Please clear my doubt.

The gross body of a sinful person is finished at that time of death. But his subtle body of mind, intelligence, and false ego remains carrying all of the sins of his previous lifetimes.

Only at that time when he becomes a pure devotee is he released from his subtle body, which has been carrying him from one gross body to another for millions and billions of lifetimes in the 8,400,000 different species of life.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
