You Owe It to Yourself

Why cheat yourself? That does not make any sense. You owe it to yourself to awaken your dormant Krishna consciousness, which means to revive your original, natural, pristine state of consciousness that you once had before you made the mistake of trying to enjoy separately from the Lord and thus fell down into this hellish material existence to suffer unendingly in the cycle of repeated birth and death. Just as a fish cannot be happy on the dry land because he is meant to be in the water, in the same way because we are creatures of the spiritual world it is not possible, no matter how hard we may try, for us to be happy in the foreign environment of this material world. The spiritual master is that most merciful representative of the Supreme Personality of Godhead who seeing our most pitiable situation picks us up from the desolate desert of this material hell and tosses us pack into the spiritual ocean of eternity, unlimited bliss, and unlimited knowledge. Therefore there is no one more fortunate than he who takes full advantage of the spiritual master's kindness by following his instructions for regaining his original natural, consciousness of pure love of God.

Question: How to Get Free From Substance Abuse?

Hello Srila Gurudeva, 
Thank you so much for your course. I gave tried several other times to stick with it but always seem to fall away. For sometime now I've went back and forth from Christ consciousness to Krishna consciousness. I now see they are the same and I desire to surrender in a deeper way. I have issues with substance abuse which have resurfaced and am in need of spiritual help. Please give me direction how to be untangled from these material patterns.

I am very pleased that you are now coming to the platform of transcendental understanding that there is no difference between Christ consciousness and Krishna consciousness. It is interesting to note in this connection that it was the perfect example of the total surrender of Lord Jesus to the will of God that inspired me to follow his example by surrendering myself to his father, Lord Sri Krishna.
Substance abuse is easily conquered when you always remember that the ultimate intoxicating drug is Krishna consciousness.  If you want to get high on some drug, why not take advantage of the ultimate drug, Krishna consciousness, which empowers you to stay high forever with no more coming down? This is real intelligence.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
