The Necessity of Initiation

To become delivered from the cycle of birth and death here in this miserable material world one must fully surrender himself unto Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. And to do so must take shelter of Lord Krishna's representative, the bona fide spiritual master, by initiation. The necessity is confirmed by the great Vaisnava spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, as follows in his book, "The Nectar of Devotion":

"Similarly, we can offer many services with our bodily activities. But all such activities must be in relationship with Krishna. This relationship is established by connecting oneself with the bona fide spiritual master, who is the direct representative of Krishna in disciplic succession. Therefore, the execution of Krishna conscious activities with the body should be directed by the spiritual master and then performed with faith. The connection with the spiritual master is called initiation. From the date of initiation by the spiritual master, the connection between Krishna and a person cultivating Krishna consciousness is established. Without initiation by a bona fide spiritual master, the actual connection with Krishna consciousness is never performed."

Therefore I was very pleased on my recent visit to Santiago, Chile to accept Hari Bhakti devi dasi as my duly initiated disciple.

Question: Why Does ISKCON Twist Tradition?

Why does ISKCON twist the tradition and name of Sukadeva, the son of Srila Vyasadeva, by adding "Goswami" to it? It is wrong information as there is no such use of "'Goswami" in any texts like the Srimad Bhagavatam.

Answer: You Are Mistaken

Anyone who is a perfect master of his senses can be called “Goswami” which means “master of the senses.” So there is nothing wrong in addressing him in this way. Rather it is your fault to say that it is incorrect. You have made this mistake because you are not a goswami, a master of your senses.
