Similarly, the living being is tiny portion of the Supreme Almighty Personality of Godhead. Even though he is quantitatively vastly different, he is qualitatively one with the Lord. Thus because Krishna is supremely independent, the living beings, being part and parcel of Him also naturally possess the quality of independence. Since they have that independence there is always the possibility that they can misuse it. And if they misuse that independence by trying to become the Lord, they are given residence in this material world where they can be satisfied with the illusion they are God, or the center of all existence.

I just want to ask that first when we were being created we were in spiritual world where there are no anarthas (bad qualities). We came to this material world because we wanted to enjoy separately from the Lord. Answer: Misuse of Independence
Because the ocean is salty, the drop of ocean of water is also salty. Thus we can understand that even though there is vast quantitative difference between a drop of ocean water and the entire ocean, they are still qualitatively one.Similarly, the living being is tiny portion of the Supreme Almighty Personality of Godhead. Even though he is quantitatively vastly different, he is qualitatively one with the Lord.
