New Year's Resolution: Make Whole World Krishna Conscious

New Years Day-Sydney, Australia. This morning I was asked to give a Srimad Bhagavatam class on following verse and purport (Srimad Bhagavatam, Ninth Canto. Chapter 10, Verse 53):

When Lord Ramacandra, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, was the King of this world, all bodily and mental suffering, disease, old age, bereavement, lamentation, distress, fear and fatigue were completely absent. There was even no death for those who did not want it.

PURPORT by Srila Prabhupada:
All these facilities existed because of Lord Ramacandra's presence as the King of the entire world. A similar situation could be introduced immediately, even in this age called Kali, the worst of all ages. It is said, kali-kale nama-rupe krishna-avatara: Krishna descends in this Kali-yuga in the form of His holy name -- Hare Krishna, Hare Rama. If we chant offenselessly, Rama and Krishna are still present in this age. The kingdom of Rama was immensely popular and beneficial, and the spreading of this Hare Krishna movement can immediately introduce a similar situation, even in this Kali-yuga.

-----------------------------

As I read over this verse and purport while the congregational chanting was going on, my eyes started to form tears as I marveled over this most amazing verse and purport. Srila Prabhupada is telling us that if we will offenselessly chant the holy name of God we can immediately make the whole world Krishna conscious. Therefore in my lecture I implored everyone to make this our new year's resolution that now in 2017 we make the entire world Krishna conscious by offenselessly chanting the holy names.

Answer: This Is My Duty

Srila Prabhupada writes:

"No one can understand the import of the Vedas without having undergone a strict disciplinary vow and disciplic succession.”

So it’s my duty to teach you to be strict. Otherwise there is no meaning to my by being your spiritual master because without strictly following the path of bhakti, we can never understand the inner meaning of the Vedas.
