By always remembering this we will be able to execute all of our varied activities in the proper consciousness and thus quickly attain that sublime ultimate goal.

Question: Chanting 13 Crores of Rama Gives God Realization?

My only goal is God realization in this lifetime. For that I am using Lord Rama Nama chant both written and oral. I am planning to do very serious chanting very soon. I have few queries regarding that:

1) I understand from many sources that chanting 13 crores (130 million) names of Rama will lead to God realization? Is that true?
2) When and after how many counts does Rama Nama mechanical chanting and offense chanting turns to devotional chanting?
3) What are the starting indications of devotional chanting?

Answer: God Realization is Not Mechanical

God realization is not mechanical that by chanting a certain number of God’s names you get liberated. It is the quality of your utterance that counts. If we can say the name of God even once with pure love, we are instantly liberated. But because we not able to do that we practice by chanting again and again so that gradually we can reach the point of purely calling out to the Lord in a mood of pure surrender. When one realizes who is his spiritual master and surrenders to him through the process of initiation it is then that his chanting begins to take on a devotional quality. Chanting it is best done in times and places when and where you can most fully absorb your mind in chanting hearing the Lord's holy name.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
