The Power of Ten Can Save the World

At the present moment the world population is 7.3 billion, and our mission is to make the whole world Krishna. Making 7.3 billion people Krishna conscious is an inconceivably Herculean task. How can we possibly accomplish this? But according to Srila Prabhupada in a Srimad Bhagavatam class that he gave in Boston on 28 April 1969 the good news is this:

"At least if one percent of the whole population becomes Krishna conscious, the whole world will be a different world. The world itself will become kingdom of God."

And then even more encouragingly Srila Prabhupada stated in lecture delivered on 4 December 1968 in Los Angeles:

"We do not expect that the whole population of the human society will be taking to this brahminical culture; but even one percent of the whole population accepts this brahminical culture, Krishna consciousness, then the whole world will be peaceful. Not even one percent, less than one percent. It is so nice."

One percent of the world population is 73 million people. Even if we can make 50 million people Krishna conscious, the whole world will be transformed. At the present in the Hare Krishna movement we have more than 50,000 initiated devotees. So if 50,000 devotees can each make 1,000 devotees, this will make 50 million devotees, and the world will be transformed. So if each ISKCON devotee makes 10 devotees, who each make ten devotees, who each make 10 devotees, by this simple formula this entire planet will become, as Srila Prabhupada says, the kingdom of God. Therefore let us all preach aggressively to make ten devotees each so that combinedly by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada we can save the world.

Question: How to Stay Motivated in Our Preaching?

I have read one purport by Srila Prabhupada, explaining that even if the entire world was delivered, it would just fill up again with other conditioned souls. So my question is: How do we stay motivated in our preaching if seemingly there's no point, because the ones that are delivered will just be replaced ?

Dharmaraja Das

Answer: The Devotee is Motivated by Compassion

A devotee is motivated by unlimited compassion. He is willing to stay in the material world eternally to deliver the fallen, conditioned souls, if that is what Krishna desires. Even if he can make one person a pure devotee, he feels that his mission is a success. And the more souls he can deliver, he becomes more and more satisfied, even if there is an unlimited stream of them.
