Perseverance Furthers

It is sometimes very profoundly said, "Perseverance furthers." What this means is that those who are so determined that they undeviatingly stick to the duties given by their spiritual master no matter what, achieve unparalleled success both in this life and in their eternal existence beyond this lifetime. Therefore one should never abandon the duties given by his spiritual master under any and all circumstances. This is called unconditional devotional service. Those who are not solidly situated on the transcendental platform sometimes waver in the steady execution of these duties, while those who are fixed in transcendence are rock-solidly, undeviatingly always fully absorbed in the execution of these divine instructions. Vedic culture means that for my entire life I undeviatingly stick to the duties given to me by my spiritual master even if under the most cataclysmic of circumstances. Mleccha culture or material culture means that I can give up serving my spiritual master on a whim or any so-called excuse at any minute, if serving him is not my fancy at that particular moment. Such a consciousness is the consciousness of an animal, not a real human being.

Question: Does God Make Mistakes?

Dear Gurudeva,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna.

According to Vedic scripture everything is coming from the Supreme God, either it is bad or good.

We are part and parcels of God, so we have all qualities which God has but in minute level. Just like we are a gold coin and God is gold mine.

We have propensity to make mistakes. So since this quality also comes from God, this means that God also must make mistakes. The example is this imperfect material world where one living entity survives at the cost of another’s life.

So my question then is: Does God make mistakes?

Answer: No. It's We Who Make Mistakes.

It's not true that bad things come from God. Nothing bad comes from God. Nor does He make mistakes. Only good comes from Him. When we misuse our free will, this is our mistake, and such misuse of free will is the cause of all the evil in the world. Even though we are qualitatively one with the Lord, because we are not quantitatively one with Him, we sometimes we fall under the influence of Maya or illusion. This is compared to the fire and the spark. The spark is qualitatively one with the fire because they are both fire. But the difference is that the while the fire is big and continues blazing, if the tiny spark becomes separated from the fire, it can easily be extinguished and lose it fiery qualities. And if the spark remains with the fire, it always retains its fiery qualities.
