In the West spiritualists have been using the term, "higher self." What is the equivalent in our terminology, or is it a pseudo expression?

Higher self means the actual self within, the pure devotee of Krishna, who is presently covered by the lower self, the false ego thinking himself to the center of all existence. By taking to the process of Krishna consciousness the higher master-of the-senses self, conquers over the lower
