Don't Postpone Your Krishna Consciousness
It is sometimes said that when you postpone an easy thing it becomes difficult and that when you postpone a difficult thing it becomes impossible. Therefore we should never postpone our Krishna consciousness. It should always be number one on our list of priorities. If in this way we always put Krishna first, the Lord will surely reciprocate with us and bless us with pure love of God. We will have not have to take birth again in this realm known as Martyaloka in which everyone is forced to die.

I have a follow-up question to Ravishankar's (Sydney) question. The Krishna Book and Srimad Bhagavatam both say that bad things happening to a person should be taken as mercy of Krishna because it is Krishna's way of getting us closer to him.
In view of this, should we consider bad things happening as Krishna's mercy or bad past karma?

Question: Bad Things Are Krishna's Mercy or Past Karma?
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Answer: Both
Since even the law of karma is Lord Krishna's merciful arrangement to purify us and bring us back to Him, both concepts are true. So in the highest sense even the bad things have a good result.Sankarshan Das Adhikari
