First Step on the Path of Krishna Consciousness

According to Srila Rupa Goswami, the first step on the path of Krishna consciousness is to take shelter of the lotus feet of a bona fide spiritual master. Why is this so important?

If you were so set sail on a ship across the ocean, would you do so without a rudder? Of course you wouldn't because you would have no way to control the direction of the ship. Becoming Krishna conscious is also crossing the ocean. Instead of the Atlantic or the Pacific, in this case it is the most formidable ocean of birth and death.

This is why having a spiritual master is essential. Without a guru you are simply lost being tossed in the waves the material ocean. But with a bona fide spiritual master you are perfectly guided how to cross this most dangerous of all oceans. This is why it is essential to take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master, not a charlatan so-called guru who is himself lost in the ocean of birth and death.

Answer: Most Peaceful Time of the Day

Because the early morning hours before sunrise are the most peaceful time of the day it is easier to fix the mind on the Lord’s names at that time. This can be practically experienced by anyone who has tried it.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
