Desperate Need of the World Society

Life is miserable in the present day world society in which the words of great saintly teachers are neglected, where "might makes right" is the governing principle, and lust and greed are the motivating factors. Such a misguided world where nobody is truly happy is in desperate need of the enlightened guidance of the bona fide spiritual master for bringing peace, stability, happiness, and prosperity back to the people. But the trouble is that the people are so misguided that they refuse to hear from the bona fide spiritual master. So what is their hope for finding genuine happiness? Somehow they must be induced to hear transcendental knowledge and the chanting of the holy names of God because this alone will save them.

What is the meaning of life?

I am practicing Krishna consciousness from the past two years. I chant 16 rounds daily, do puja and offerings to Krishna, and study scripture, but still I am not satisfied. Sometimes I feel that I am doing nothing and I will get the above question so many times. Please clarify my doubt and tell me what should I do to progress in Krishna consciousness and be enthusiastic in Krishna consciousness.

Answer: To Enjoy Unlimited Happiness

The meaning of life is to enjoy unlimited happiness. If you are practicing Krishna consciousness but are still not happy, there is a defect in your practice. Instead of always advancing in Krishna consciousness tasting ever-increasing happiness, you have become stagnant. Rupa Goswami advises us that to properly practice Krishna consciousness we must take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master and take initiation from him. Without becoming the devotee of Krishna’s devotee we may chant, read, and worship, but we will still not be satisfied. So my best advice to you is that you should fully surrender yourself to the bona fide spiritual master by accepting initiation from him. In this way, under his expert guidance you will make steady progress in Krishna consciousness and attain the platform of unlimited happiness.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
