What is Krishna Consciousness?

Srila Prabhupada very wonderfully defines what is Krishna consciousness in his preface to the Krishna Book as follows:

"The art of focusing one’s attention on the Supreme and giving one’s love to Him is called Kṛṣṇa consciousness."

And then he further explains:

"We have inaugurated the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement so that everyone can satisfy his propensity for loving others simply by directing his love toward Kṛṣṇa. The whole world is very eager to satisfy the dormant propensity of love for others, but the various invented methods like socialism, communism, altruism, humanitarianism and nationalism, along with whatever else may be manufactured for the peace and prosperity of the world, are all useless and frustrating because of our gross ignorance of the art of loving Kṛṣṇa. Generally people think that by advancing the cause of moral principles and religious rites they will be happy. Others may think that happiness can be achieved by economic development, and yet others think that simply by sense gratification they will be happy. But the real fact is that people can be happy only by loving Kṛṣṇa."

Therefore we should make our live perfect by loving Krishna and make the whole world happy by teaching everyone how to love Krishna.

Dear Srila Gurudeva,

With reference to Thought for the Day from 2 March 2022 as you quoted Srila Prabhupada:

"If he reads one śloka, his life will be successful. If one śloka, one word. This is such nice things."

If just by following above, life becomes successful, then what is the point of following so many rules & regulations, especially the four regulative principles (no illicit sex, no meat eating, no intoxication, and no gambling) and minimum of chanting 16 rounds od Hare Krishna japa mala every day? Please enlighten.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. Who is this Krishna?

Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
