Loving Exchanges Between Vaishnavas

Sankarshan Das and His Holiness Jayapataka Swami

In the Upadeshamrita Srila Rupa Goswami has described very nicely in great detail the wonderful exchanges of love that we experience in the association of Krishna's devotees:

dadāti pratigṛhṇāti
guhyam ākhyāti pṛcchati
bhuṅkte bhojayate caiva
ṣaḍ-vidhaṁ prīti-lakṣaṇam

"Offering gifts in charity, accepting charitable gifts, revealing one's mind in confidence, inquiring confidentially, accepting prasāda and offering prasāda are the six symptoms of love shared by one devotee and another."

When I first joined ISKCON in 1971 a senior devotee said that we should not love devotees, that we should only love Krishna. This does not make any sense to me because I was trained up under the expert guidance of His Holiness Vishnujana Swami who said that we should always be in an embracing mood with the devotees. So when the BBT published the above quoted book and I read about the loving exchanges between the devotees my hunch that we should love the devotees was joyfully confirmed.

Factually this is what will make us or break us in Krishna consciousness. If we train ourselves to always have loving dealings with the devotees, we will be very strong and fixed up in Krishna consciousness. Conversely, if we do not do so, it is only a matter of time before we will fall down from Krishna consciousness and give up the association of the devotees.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
