Scriptures Teach the Necessity of Guru
If we accept the authority of the Vedic scriptures, we will understand that in order to become fixed in Krishna consciousness we require a spiritual master. For example, Lord Krishna states as follows in the Bhagavad-gita:

tad viddhi praṇipātena
paripraśnena sevayā
upadekṣyanti te jñānaṁ
jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ

"Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.
(Bhagavad-gita 4.34)

And it is stated in the Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad 1.2.12:

tad-vijñānārthaṁ sa gurum evābhigacchet
samit-pāṇiḥ śrotriyaṁ brahma-niṣṭham

"To understand these things properly, one must humbly approach, with firewood in hand, a spiritual master who is learned in the Vedas and firmly devoted to the Absolute Truth."

Therefore those who are serious about achieving the spiritual perfection of going back to home, back to Godhead take complete shelter of the bona fide spiritual master by the process of initiation.

Krishna is the source of Krishna. He is self-manifested. This is confirmed as follows in the Brahma-samhita, Text 1:

īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ
sac-cid-ānanda-vigrahaḥ
anādir ādir govindaḥ
sarva-kāraṇa-kāraṇam

"Kṛṣṇa who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes."

Approach me in the mood of a fully surrendered disciple.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
