How to Defeat Depression
Instead of feeling like this...
You Can Be Feeling Like This...
On 29 August 1972 ISKCON Founder-Acharya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada wrote a letter to his disciple, Guru Das, who was feeling depressed, instructing him how to conquer over depression. In that letter Srila Prabhupada stated:
"Do not be depressed. All along my godbrothers gave me only depression, repression, compression -- but I continued strong in my duty. So never mind there is some discouragement, continue with your work in full enthusiastic Krishna Consciousness attitude of service."
Thus depression can be easily conquered if we stick to our duty with enthusiasm.
In this connection Srila Prabhupada wrote me from London in a letter dated 7 September 1971:
"I can see also that you are a very sincere and enthusiastic boy and are anxious for spreading this movement. Those are first class qualifications for making advancement in Krishna Consciousness. So continue enthusiastically as you are doing and Krishna will surely bless you."

The ultimate destiny of every living being is to return to his original home in the spiritual world. But this destiny does not manifest until one consciously chooses to do so with his free will. Since one can only temporarily derive so-called enjoyment from illusory happiness, sooner or later everyone will do this because this is their original nature. Those who are most fortunate choose to do so as soon as possible. And those who are less fortunate will choose to do so later on or much later on.
