Be Always Vigilant Like a Soldier on the Battlefield

Be Always Vigilant Like a Soldier on the Battlefield
Srila Prabhupada has very nicely explained to us how taking up the path of Krishna consciousness is declaring war against maya, the illusory energy. He has stated is follows in this book, The Path of Perfection:

"To pursue the transcendental path is more or less to declare war on the illusory energy. When we accept any process of self-realization, we are actually declaring war against maya, illusion, and maya is certain to place many difficulties before us. Therefore, there is a chance of failure, but one has to become very steady. Whenever a person tries to escape the clutches of the illusory energy, she tries to defeat the practitioner by various allurements."

This means that if we are to be successful in awakening our dormant Krishna consciousness, we must always be very vigilant in our fight against the material energy never giving maya a chance to infiltrate our consciousness. In short, we have to always keep up the good fight against maya or illusion never letting up our guard.

Question: How to Remain Healthy When Rising Early?

How do ISKCON devotees maintain their physical fitness and mental fitness by waking up every day early in the morning at 3:30AM, taking bath, attending arati at 4:30 AM and then chanting 16 rounds of Hare Krishna japa which takes approximately 2 hours?

Answer: By Going to Bed Early

What you describe is exactly how we do it. The American philosopher, Benjamin Franklin, said it like this: "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."

I’ve been doing so for half a century, and I can tell you that it is simply wonderful. My body is a 72 years old, and I still feel like a young man. The key is that you have to go to bed as early as possible.
