156 Million Innocent Animals Slaughtered Daily

Yesterday's "Thought for the Day" mentioned 156 animals innocent slaughtered daily. This was a major typo that our editor did not catch before publication. The actual number is 156 million animals are cruelly murdered every day in the world's slaughterhouses. The karma from this horrendous inconceivable volume of sinful activities is making peace and prosperity of the human society an impossibility. It's time now that the world's leaders wake up and realize that we absolutely must stop murdering all of these innocent creatures. Those who want to eat animal flesh should wait until the animals die naturally.

If one is in a desert and there is nothing else to eat except meat, then one can meat for one's survival. But when there is an ample supply of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and grains it is most sinful to violate the scriptural injunction that is found both in the Bible and in the Vedic scriptures against killing. One who does so in spite of the injunctions will take birth as a animal in his next life to be eaten by the same animals that he ate.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
