Don't Commit Suicide

In the modern age people are so unhappy that on the average every 40 seconds somebody commits suicide. If you ever become depressed and your mind becomes disturbed with suicidal thoughts, kick such thoughts out with boot because the karmic reaction for suicide is that you become a ghost. This means that end up in a worse situation than the situation you were lamenting. Instead of suicide the solution for your anxiety is to remember this most sublime instruction from Lord Krishna, which He gives to Arjuna in Chapter Two, Text 14 of the Bhagavad-gita:

mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya
śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ
āgamāpāyino 'nityās
tāṁs titikṣasva bhārata

TRANSLATION
"O son of Kuntī, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed."

So the next time you get depressed or you become giddy just remember to become blissfully equipoised by remembering that you are not your body and that you are the eternal of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the source of all existence. If you will find your peace and happiness in this relationship, you will no longer be bothered by the constants up and downs of this flickering material nature.

Question: Balancing the Three Modes?

Is it best to be sattvic (in the mode of goodness) or should all the three gunas be in balance?

Veyrroshen Barathidasan

Answer: Beyond the Three Modes

Dear Veyrroshen,

The three gunas (modes) of material nature are goodness (sattva guna), passion (raja guna), and ignorance (tama guna). The proper position for an enlightened human being is to come to suddha sattva guna, the position of pure goodness completely beyond all the tinges of the material nature. Even sattva guna (the mode of goodness) is not good enough because in that mode there are still tinges of passion and ignorance. It is only when one comes to the position of suddha sattva (pure goodness) that one is on the platform of liberation, completely free from of the debilitating contaminations of the material nature, which cause so much unnecessary illusion and suffering. If you would like to become a master of the self-realization science completely from all of the tinges of material nature check out my free self-realization course at: www.JoinCourse.com

Hoping this meets you well,
