Answers According to the Vedic Wisdom
Question: Meditating on Nothing?
Is mediation a state of pure consciousness with no content?
Ramesh ManglaniAnswer: Only Fools Try to Meditate on Nothing
Meditation is the state of pure consciousness. But it is not meditating on nothing. It’s impossible to meditate on nothing, because nothing does not exist. You can’t meditate on something that does not exist because there is nothing to fix your mind on. Nor is it possible to turn off your mind. There is no such thing as nothing, except as a concept, and even then it is something. So it is not nothing. Real meditation means to fully absorb your mind in meditation upon God. The Vedic scriptures ultimately describe God as Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and especially recommend the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra as the highest form of meditation in this age: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare HareSankarshan Das Adhikari
