Lord Caitanya is in great anxiety to see how the conditioned souls are suffering unlimitedly because of being entangled in the cycle of repeated birth and death. This anxiety is a great burden, which is very heavily weighing Him down. Thus when His devotee is also in a state of anxiety to see the unlimited sufferings of the fallen, conditioned souls of this material world, that devotee is very, very dear to Lord Caitanya. This is because that devotee is giving partial relief to Lord Caitanya by helping Him to shoulder this burden. This means that the more the devotee feels pity in his heart to see the suffering souls of this material world, the more he is dear to Lord Caitanya.
