Devastating Hurricane Dorian

With winds of up to 185 miles per hour Hurricane Dorian has been wreaking tremendous damage in the Bahamas and is also threatening Florida and other east coast states in the US. According to the US National Weather Service it is the most powerful storm to make landfall in the Atlantic since the 1935 Labor Day hurricane. The damage is estimated to be between 25 to 40 billion dollars. Regarding such things Srila Prabhupada writes in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, Third Canto, Chapter Seventeen, Text 5 as follows:

"When there are natural disturbances like blowing cyclones, too much heat or snowfall, and uprooting of trees by hurricanes, it is to be understood that the demoniac population is increasing and so the natural disturbance is also taking place. There are many countries on the globe, even at the present moment, where all these disturbances are current. This is true all over the world."

These natural disturbances are karmic reactions for the sinful activities taking place on this planet such as cow killing and abuse of women and children. If we can somehow or other make the whole world Krishna consciousness, these disturbances will not torment us any more. Therefore we are inviting everyone all over the world to join us in this Krishna consciousness movement as soon as possible. If they will accept our invitation, this planet Earth will become a heavenly planet free of such devastating disasters.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
