Message to the Washington Post "Acts of Faith" Section
Michelle Boorstein who heads up the Acts of Faith Section of the the Washington Post newspaper in Washington DC. USA recently send the following message to me and her other subscribers:
"Happy Tuesday Acts readers, I hope you're finding productive ways to navigate our complicated, divided era -- whatever those ways are. We have a good mix of stories, touching on everything from revelation, branding and community to power and activism. As always, feedback, story ideas and whistle-blowing tips are always welcome."
She also cited a statement by her colleague who questions what religionists are going to do about the devastating climate change disaster that is now being predicted by scientists for the entire planet earth.
In regards to this I wrote her as follows:
Dear Michelle,
Thanks for your heading up this wonderful Acts of Faith section at the Washington Post.
You are most certainly correct in describing our era as complicated and divided. But the real meaning of religion is to make things simple and unified. In other words, pseudo religion causes complication and division, genuine religion (relinking with the Supreme Person who is the source of all existence) brings perfect peace and happiness. What this means is that ultimately there is only one religion, although there may be different rooms within the same house.
Regarding the predicted deterioration of the global atmosphere, this was indeed predicted long ago in the ancient Vedic scriptures of India. For example in the 5,000 years old Srimad Bhagavatam (12th Canto, Chapter 2, Text 9) it is predicted what eventually will transpire in our troubled times:
"Harassed by famine and excessive taxes, people will resort to eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds. Struck by drought, they will become completely ruined.”
The good news is that by the wide scale distribution of the essence of religion, not its sectarian covering, this downwards trend can be reversed and this planet can be brought back into is original Garden of Eden-like atmosphere. This is why the ecumenical movement within religion is a step in the right direction. What this means now is that it is time for all religious leaders to go deep within Religion to find its one root instead of only seeing its many branches, because while the tree of religion is indeed many branched, its root is only one. In its root lies the key to peace, prosperity, happiness, and ultimately liberation for the entire suffering humanity. This is why religion has to now more than ever be understood scientifically.

What is Mayavadi philosophy? How is a Mayavadi different from Gaudiya vaishnav?
With kind regards to you,
Nikamal Chatterji
My Dear Nikamal,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
According to Mayavadi philosophy we are all God. Simply we have forgotten it. Now we have to get back to being God again.
But this philosophy is dogmatic. It does not make any sense. God means the Supreme. There is nothing greater than Him. Therefore forgetfulness cannot be greater than Him. Thus He cannot forget anything, and therefore we are not God.
This is the proper philosophical, scientific non-dogmatic understanding of God that is understood and taught by the followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the Gaudiya Vaisnavas.
I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.
