Make Your Mind Like a Lotus Flower

The lotus flower has the amazing quality of floating in the water without being affected by the water. This is so because the lotus leaf exudes a waxy substance that makes it waterproof. Why am I talking about lotus flowers? The reason is that the mind of a transcendentalist is also like that. He has mastered the art of always keeping his mind situated in the peaceful, all-blissful, transcendental, non-material realm even though all hell may be breaking lose around him. The art of meditation takes you there if done regularly, consistently on a daily basis. Impersonal, voidistic types of meditation in which one tries to make the mind blank are not effective in the long run because the mind cannot be annihilated. It always desires some positive engagement. Thus the perfection of the mind is to be fixed solidly on something transcendental, i.e. which is situated beyond this material existence. This called mantra or sabda brahman, a transcendental sound vibration from beyond this material existence. The Vedic scriptures contain thousands of such mantras in the most ancient of all civilized languages, Sanskrit. And they recommend that in our present most materialistic age the most powerful and effective mantra is the Hare Krishna mantra, which is as follows:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

I personally, as young spiritual seeker, tried many different mantras and meditation techniques, none of which worked for me. But in the fall of 1968 in Denver, Colorado USA when a friend of mine named Patrick Dolan turned me on to the Hare Krishna mantra I was blessed with a mantra that literally regularly carried me into higher realms of consciousness. So I've been chanting it for over 50 years with ever-increasingly wonderful results, and I recommend it for you and the whole world.

I am not selling you this mantra, which is worth more than millions and billions of dollars. Rather it is my gift of love to you so that you can also attain the same wealth of happiness that I have been blessed with.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
