Take Over the World As Soon As Possible

The entire human civilization is suffering like anything due to their lack of Krishna consciousness. In fact, they are so far off the track that practically the entire human civilization is heading down to the animal kingdom in their next births. Therefore out of compassion upon these poor suffering souls we need to take over the world as soon possible. The world takeover we are proposing is not by guns and bombs. It is by education. We want to train everyone how to understand perfectly what is the individual self, what is Supreme Self, and how the individual self can live in perfect harmony with the Supreme Self. When this knowledge becomes widely known the entire planet will be blessed with peace and prosperity. Everyone will be truly happy. May that day come soon. May that day come real soon.

Question: Necessary to Perform the Sraddha Rituals?

In the Vedic literature it is recommended that one should perform rituals (sraddha) for one's ancestors, especially deceased parents. Otherwise ancestors will go on suffering in hell. Is it mandatory also for devotees who chant Hare Krishna regularly to perform sraddha?

Recently, an ISKCON preacher told us that even the devotees should perform sraddha as a part of Varnashrama dharma. He was saying that because the neophyte devotees are not 100% pure, it is mandatory to perform sraddha, that only who has taken complete shelter of the lotus feet of Krishna, (i.e., pure devotee) he need not perform sraddha. Please enlighten me on the subject of sraddha.

Answer: Not for Vaisnavas

Srila Prabhupada told us that the sraddha ceremony is not for Vaisnavas, that their only duty is to serve Krishna. When he was with us on this planet he never told us to do the sraddha ceremony. In fact he even instructed one of his disciples, who received a telegram informing him of the passing away of his grandfather and requesting his presence for the sraddha ceremony, that those who are engaged in Krishna's service have no necessity for such things. He allowed that disciple to make his own decision whether to go or not. That disciple intelligently decided not to go.

There is a tendency in ISKCON for devotees to concoct new ideas that were not taught by Srila Prabhupada. If this tendency is not checked, in a few decades the proper understanding of Prabhupada's teachings will be lost and ISKCON will simply become another nonsense pseudo religious organization incapable of teaching anyone how to go back to Godhead.
