By Conquering Your Mind, You Can Conquer the World

Guru Nanak, who is described by Srila Prabhupada as being one of the great acaryas, great spiritual authorities, said, "Man Jeetai Jagjeet--By conquering your mind, you can conquer the world." This is a fact. One who becomes a perfect master of his senses by engaging them fully in Krishna' service, becomes empowered by Krishna to attract the whole world to Krishna. This is confirmed by Srila Prabhupada in the Caitanya Caritamrita, Adi Lila, Chapter 7, Text 83 purport, in which he states:

"A sincere student aurally receives the holy name from the spiritual master, and after being initiated he follows the regulative principles given by the spiritual master. When the holy name is properly served in this way, automatically the spiritual nature of the holy name spreads; in other words, the devotee becomes qualified in offenselessly chanting the holy name. When one is completely fit to chant the holy name in this way, he is eligible to make disciples all over the world, and he actually becomes jagad-guru. Then the entire world, under his influence, begins to chant the holy names of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra."

Therefore for the sake of his own deliverance as well as for the deliverance of all the fallen souls of this age, the devotee should diligently strive to bring his mind completely under control by becoming an offenseless chanter of Krishna's holy name.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
