Silence Better than Krishna Katha?

Recently one of our subscribers dropped out of our e-course stating, "Search for what is within is best carried out in silence." But it has been revealed by great spiritual authorities, who have realized the highest truth, that the greatest silence of all is the topics of Krishna. Therefore it is better to talk about Krishna than to not talk at all. If our subscriber was true to his philosophy, he would not have broken silence to tell me that silence is better. When I wrote to him explaining this he thanked me. It is our duty to free people from the misconceptions that keep them locked up in the cycle of birth and death.

Question: Bodily Maintenance for Krishna?

Hare Krishna Dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I ponder upon two questions daily which I have yet to understand or find the answer to. Please help!

1) By taking care of the material body (feeding it healthy foods, supplementing to prevent illnesses and working out for keeping it strong) and still being Krishna consciousnesses, realizing that I am not the body but a soul, do we have any benefits from this care? for example, if two people were just as devoted to Krishna and both would eat prasadam but one eats healthier foods and one eats less healthier foods would both benefit the same?

Would they go back to Godhead just for loving Krishna without it mattering if they took care of the body in this way or not?

Since this body was given to us by God I feel I need to respect this. Just as when we are given in care an object that is not ours we take even more care of it, as such I feel it is with this body.

2) When I do japa I feel very close to God and sometimes actually feel his presence. This is great joy for me, but just as I feel the joy a deep sadness follows. Is this maya trying to discourage us, an illusion of this material mind or is this a true feeling from the soul which suffers because it is away from Krishna (is this what love in separation feels like?).

P.S. I wanted to thank you for your Thought for the Day and YouTube videos which are a daily inspiration for me! I appreciate them greatly.

Answer: Take Good Care of Krishna's Property

The material body is a machine given to us by Krishna to engage in His service. One who takes good care of his body so that he can utilize more fully in Krishna’s service, is more Krishna conscious than a person who artificially neglects his bodily maintenance not realizing the importance of keeping his body in good health for Krishna's service.

Transcendental sadness is a deeper, more powerful form of divine happiness. If you are feeling morose, your emotions are sill on the material plane
