Don't Try to Train Your Guru

The secret of spiritual success is to be unflinchingly dedicated to carrying out the orders given to you by your spiritual master. Sometimes the neophyte finds difficulty to do this and pleads, "Srila Gurudeva, please have mercy," as if the spiritual master is not being merciful and has to be trained by the disciple how to be merciful. Of course, this is foolishness because the order of the spiritual master is his mercy. So instead of begging the spiritual master to be merciful, the disciple should be begging, "Srila Gurudeva, please bless me that I can successfully follow your instructions."

Question: Serve Krishna in Spiritual Body?

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I have difficulties in understanding some points. Could you please answer my questions?

#1: By what means service to Krishna in the spiritual sky is performed if the body is sat-cit-ananda, composed of eternity, knowledge, and bliss? Does the soul simply exist as consciousness with a feeling of love?

#2: There is a couple of lovers. When one passes away, the other hopes, "I will meet you in heaven and we will enjoy each others company again." Is this a romantic dream or is it truly possible? Do relationships in spiritual sky between two souls exist or is there just a relationship between Krishna and a particular soul?

Thank-You for Your time.

Ruta

Answer: Much Better Facility

It is not that in the spiritual world that you are disembodied. In that wondrous abode you have a much better body for serving Krishna than the one you have now. In this material world, just as you wear a garment, your body is a covering of your actual self. But in the spiritual world, your body is your actual self. You are an eternal youth who never gets sick, gets old, or dies. And in a state of great happiness you are purely loving and serving Krishna in an unlimited variety of ways for all of eternity.

Regarding two lovers who want to meet again, after death the Srimad Bhagavatam blesses us with these enlightening words:

"Many planks and sticks, unable to stay together, are carried away by the force of a river's waves. Similarly, although we are intimately related with friends and family members, we are unable to stay together because of our varied past deeds and the waves of time."
--SB 10.5.25

However in the case of devotees it is different. Srila Prabhupada explains that there is another ISKCON in the spiritual world. This means that just as the ISKCON devotees are together in this material world, they will also be together in the spiritual world. ISKCON is an eternal spiritual family.
