Base the World Society on Love not Law

The current slate of world leaders do not have even the slightest idea of how to govern the world properly so that people all over the world can be happy. They try to govern on the basis of law, not on the basis of love. This is their big mistake.

On 11 September 1975 Srila Prabhupada was personally invited by the prime minister of Mauritius to visit his country. Srila Prabhupada accepted his invitation and arrived on 30 September 1975. Upon his arrival he was received by several leading gentlemen of this country and spoke the following words:

"Vedic society is based on the principle of love -- between husband and wife, father and son, the king and the citizens, and so on. Civilization must be founded on love, not law. By law you cannot make a person love you. First he must love you, then he will gladly follow your law. Modern civilization lacks this basis of love, so everything is superficial and false. But if devotion to Krishna is made the basic principle, then people will be happy."

This is the message that we must broadcast to the people of the world because it is only by this formula that the people of this world can be happy.

Question: What Did Radha Feel When Krishna Left Vrindavan?

I was reading in the Nectar of Devotion that real devotion manifests when Krishna is there on the receiving end. I was thinking how can Krishna be at the receiving end? Krishna is giving me everything. How can I give anything to Him? If I am offering some food to Krishna, the food is also provided by Him. I am not in a position or never will be to give anything to Krishna. Then how can Krishna come on the receiving end ever? Does that mean real devotion won't manifest in me anytime? My second question is how to understand the mood of Srimati Radharani in separation when Krishna left Vrindavan? Please clear my doubts.

Thank you.

Answer: 10 Million Times the Agony of Missing One's Beloved

Krishna is already on the receiving end. The challenge is now to get yourself situated on the giving end. Devotion means to get yourself in the mood of offering everything to Krishna. In the beginning the feeling may not be there, so you can simply do it out of duty. If you continue in this way out of duty under the order of the spiritual master, the natural feelings of loving service will gradually arise within your heart.

Just as you miss someone who is dear to you when they are absent, multiply that by ten million times and that is how Radharani felt when Krishna left Vrindavan.
