Your Duty is to Deliver the Whole World

Just as our spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, was given the duty by his spiritual master to spread Krishna consciousness throughout the English speaking world, we the followers of Srila Prabhupada have been given by him the duty to deliver the entire world.

How are we to go about trying to accomplish this herculean task?

We have to begin with ourselves. We must first situate ourselves properly in Krishna consciousness by fully surrendering to Sri Guru and Krishna. Then we must tell everyone we meet about Krishna, taxing our brains how to present Krishna in such a way that the entire human civilization will become attracted to awaken their Krishna consciousness, the pure love of God which is lying dormant within them. This will bring a new unparalelled age of peace and prosperity to this planet. So let's try for it with our full determination, patience, and enthusiasm.

This is a win-win proposition. If we fail in our present lifetimes to inundate this planet with pure Krishna bhakti, at least by our sincere endeavor to deliver the world our perfection of going back to home, back to Godhead will be assured. So even if we lose, we win.

And if we can successfully pull off a global spiritual revolution, it will be the greatest win in human history. The history books will be rewritten to center around that most amazing era in the chronicles of time when the entire world was most astonishingly transformed by the sankirtan movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

By fully absorbing ourselves as much as possible in executing our duty of delivering the entire world through public chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra, transcendental book distribution, prasadam distribution, educational programs, cultural events, and individual cultivation we will be able to relish watching the magic of Lord Sri Krishna's mercy gradually manifesting more and more within us and all around us.

Question: What Does Tolerating Happiness Mean?

Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I have a question:

The general human tendency is to enjoy pleasant situations or things and to tolerate the unpleasant and distressful ones. Contrastingly, Lord Krishna advises in the Bhagavad-gita 2.14 to "tolerate" both pleasant and painful things. I really did not understand that why, according to Lord Krishna, pleasant things are to be "tolerated" and not enjoyed? What does it mean to tolerate pleasant situations?

I humbly request you to please clear away my confusion and enlighten me with knowledge.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Answer: Don't Be Carried Away By It

Your question is very nice. Thank you. Tolerating pleasant situations means not being carried away by them thinking that you can actually enjoy this material world. Just as we do not allow suffering situations to divert our minds from Krishna, we also do not allow pleasant situations to divert our minds away from Krishna. This is because Krishna is our only real shelter and real pleasure. All material situations both pleasant and unpleasant are different varieties of suffering. Therefore we tolerate the pains and pleasures of the material world keeping ourselves always fixed in Krishna consciousness.
