Don't Be a Slave of Your Tongue

Don't be a slave of your tongue. The uncontrolled tongue both in speech and eating is your greatest enemy because it drags you into a hellish, nightmarish existence and keeps you there as long as you remain the slave of your tongue.

Always remember that of all the senses the tongue is the most voracious and uncontrollable. It is very difficult to conquer over the tongue in this world. An uncontrolled tongue is very detrimental for your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Therefore the most important discipline that you need to learn is how to control your tongue. The simple, easy, and natural way to do that is to chant Hare Krishna as much as possible every day and only eat prasadam, foodstuffs that have been offered to Lord Sri Krishna with love and devotion. And when eating prasadam you should avoid gluttony by only taking what is necessary to keep body and soul together. Krishna prasadam is so satisfying, nutritious, and spiritually powerful that by taking it you immediately become jolly. Therefore this amazingly sublime type of eating by its very nature helps you to curb down the tendency for over-eating and transforms you into a totally happy, self-realized, fully respiritualized being.

Question: How Long to Do Karma-Misra-Bhakti?

Hare Krishna, Gurudeva,
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Thank you very much for being merciful upon me by answering my foolish questions.

I want to know the perfect meaning of karma-misra-bhakti and how long one should do karma-misra-bhakti.

Your servant,
Sanket

Answer: Give It Up Immediately

Karma-misra-bhakti means devotional service mixed with the desire for material sense gratification. One engages in the service of the Lord, but he wants to get material sense enjoyment in exchange for his service. Such an impure mixed consciousness should be given up immediately because one can never be satisfied by karma-misra-bhakti. It is only unalloyed devotional service, pure devotional service, which brings complete satisfaction to the self.
