Radharani Was Not Fully Satisfied at Kurukshetra

After Krishna left Vrindavan, Radharani and the devotees of Vrindavan were plunged into an ocean of unlimited grief. Finally, after many long painful years of separation they were able to again get Krishna's association. This joyful event took place on the occasion of a solar eclipse when the Dvarakavasis, the devotees from Dvaraka, and the Vrajavasis, the devotee from Vrindavan, came together at Kurukshetra. Now that Radharani was reunited with her beloved Lord Krishna she was greatly satisfied. However, in the following words to one of her gopi friends she revealed that she was not fully satisfied:

priyaḥ so 'yaṁ kṛṣṇaḥ saha-cari kuru-kṣetra-militas
tathāhaṁ sā rādhā tad idam ubhayoḥ saṅgama-sukham
tathāpy antaḥ-khelan-madhura-muralī-pañcama-juṣe
mano me kālindī-pulina-vipināya spṛhayati

"My dear friend, now I have met My very old and dear friend Krishna on this field of Kurukshetra. I am the same Radharani, and now We are meeting together. It is very pleasant, but still I would like to go to the bank of the Yamuna beneath the trees of the forest there. I wish to hear the vibration of His sweet flute playing the fifth note within that forest of Vrindavana."
--Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya 1.76

This above pastime reveals the inner meaning of the Ratha Yatra festival. The devotees want to bring Krishna back to Vrindavan so that Radharani and the Vrajavasis can associate with Krishna in the way that they best know Him and love Him. It is in this mood that the devotees who know the esoteric meaning of the Ratha Yatra festival pull the ropes of Lord Jagannatha's cart to bring Krishna back to Vrindavan.

Question: Can A Devotee Believe in Himself?

Is there in Krishna consciousness practice such a thing as belief in yourself? Should we make plans for the future? Or we should fully depend on Krishna for everything? Or does this depend on our spiritual stage?

Thank you very much.

Answer: The Devotees Highly Regards His Eternal Identity

Even though the devotee is perfect in humility thinking himself to be lower than the straw in the street, the devotee simultaneously has the highest regard for himself, better than any non-devotee thinks about himself, because he knows that he is not his body and that he is an eternal associate of Lord Sri Krishna in the spiritual world. Therefore he dedicates his entire life to getting back to his original identity, and does not waste time trying to be a so-called great person in the estimation of the fools and rascals.

No matter what is your stage of spiritual awakening, structure your life in such as way as if you are going to live for many years, while simultaneously being prepared to leave your body at any minute. After all, we do not really know how long a lifespan Krishna is going to allot us. Whether we die soon or after many years from now, in either case we should fully depend on Krishna, our eternal well-wisher and best of all friends.
