There are 8,400,000 species of life: 900,000 aquatics, 2,000,000 types of plants and trees, 1,100,000 types of worms and reptiles, 1,000,000 birds, 3,000,000 beasts, and 400,000 types of human beings. The consciousness that you cultivate in your present lifetime determines what type of body you will get in your next lifetime. People who are attached to sky diving will become birds in their next life. Those who are keen for scuba diving will become fish. In this way nature facilitates everyone according to their desires. Those who are intelligent realize that this material world, no matter what species you are in, is a place of misery. Therefore they cultivate Krishna consciousness so that their next life will be an eternal one with Sri Sri Radha and Krishna in that wondrous spiritual sky.

Question: How to Interest Others in this Science?

I have distributed our Back To Godhead Magazine to my office staff on free basis and requested them to return it to me after reading. But a lot of them are not showing their interest. What can I do? I have also invited them to attend the Sunday Festival at Pune's Sri Radha Kunjabihari temple, but they did not want to come.

Answer: Throw a Wide Net

While your attempt to enlighten others with transcendental knowledge is certainly laudable, you are going about it in too much of a limited way. Try to understand from the following example: One man spent the entire day fishing and did not catch even one fish, while another man spent half a day fishing and caught 10,000 fish. What was the difference? The man who caught no fish sat with a fishing pole dangling one baited hook in the water. The man who caught 10,000 fish took a boat out to sea and lowered a huge net encompassing a very large area and then pulled back into his boat full of fish. The point is that if you want to be successful in introducing others to the science of self realization, you should not limit yourself to the people in your office. You should go out every evening for at least an hour or two going door to door to introduce people to our enlightening literatures. You should also ask for some contribution to cover the printing cost. If somebody gets something free, they will not think that it has any value. But if they give some money for it, they will definitely read it in order to get their money's worth. If you throw a wide net, you will find that there are many people in your city who are interested in Krishna consciousness.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
