First Five Steps on the Krishna Bhakti Path

Quoting from Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Prabhupada lists the first five steps on the path of Krishna bhakti in Chapter Six of the Nectar of Devotion:

(1) accepting the shelter of the lotus feet of a bona fide spiritual master, (2) becoming initiated by the spiritual master and learning how to discharge devotional service from him, (3) obeying the orders of the spiritual master with faith and devotion, (4) following in the footsteps of great acaryas (teachers) under the direction of the spiritual master, (5) inquiring from the spiritual master how to advance in Krishna consciousness

Unaware of how the science of bhakti actually works, some neophytes ignorantly think that one does not need a spiritual master in order to advance on the path of Krishna bhakti. Such neophytes are advised to take guidance from the great Vaisnava authorities such as Srila Prabhupada and Srila Rupa Goswami in order to become properly established in Krishna consciousness.

Srila Rupa Goswami recommends that in order to successfully begin the path of bhakti that you should take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master and serve Lord Sri Krishna under his direction. If you do not take shelter of Krishna and Guru, you will remain the helpless slave of your senses and you will be dragged down to the animal kingdom in your next birth in order to have better facility to gratify your senses as a dog, a pig, or a monkey.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
