How to Replace Depression with Confidence

One should always be confident about the process of Krishna consciousness, devotional service to Lord Sri Krishna. Sometimes in the neophyte stage of devotional service one may become unhappy and depressed due to a reverse situation. When such depression comes one should immediately replace it with confidence in attainment of the supreme goal, pure love of Godhead, Krishna prema. If one patiently follows the rules and regulations of devotional service, he can know for sure that the day will come when he will achieve all of a sudden the perfection of devotional service. Therefore there is no reason to ever be depressed by any loss or reverse in his advancement in spiritual life.

Question: The Supreme is Krishna or Shiva?

I am all of 40 yrs and all these years have strongly believed in Lord Shiva (family God). Recently last 5-6 months I have been associated with Krishna Consciousness and tending towards believing that Lord Krishna is the Supreme Godhead. However at times it becomes difficult as all these years have had the belief that Lord Shiva is supreme. Please guide me towards the right path as I am stuck in a dilemma.

Answer: Lord Shiva Comes From Lord Krishna

In the civilization of the twice-born, those who are factually awakened with spiritual knowledge and realization, truth is accepted and understood according to the principle of Vedic authority as explained in the scriptures and confirmed by great acharyas. In this regard the factual position of Lord Shiva is authoritatively described as follows in the Brahma-samhita 5.45:

kṣīraṁ yathā dadhi vikāra-viśeṣa-yogāt
sañjāyate na hi tataḥ pṛthag asti hetoḥ
yaḥ śambhutām api tathā samupaiti kāryād
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi

"Just as milk is transformed into yogurt (dahi) by the action of acids, but yet the effect yogurt is neither the same as, nor different from, its cause, milk, so I adore the primeval Lord Govinda of whom Lord Shiva (Śambhu) is a transformation for the performance of the work of destruction."

This means that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, manifests from Himself Lord Shiva for the purpose of destruction. From milk we can derive yogurt. But we cannot derive milk from yogurt.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
