Winning the War Against Maya

To seriously take up the process of Krishna consciousness is to declare war against maya or illusion. Everywhere around us the enemy of material attraction is trying to lure us away from devotional service to the Lord into the trap of material sense gratification, which will keep us forever entangled in the cycle of repeated birth and death. It takes a herculean effort of the aspiring devotee to sever the hard intricately tied knot of material attraction. Therefore he must fight just like a soldier during wartime to ward off the influence of the material energy if he wants to win the war against maya.

Question: Will the World Problems Ever Be Solved?

Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to you and Srila Prabhupada.

In the below quoted mission statement from Thought for the Day why has it been claimed that awakening Krishna consciousness will solve all the problems of the world society? Please explain in detail. Will the world problems will ever be solved?

We request you to participate in this mission by reviving your dormant Krishna consciousness and assisting us in spreading this science all over the world."

Answer: If They Take to Krishna Consciousness

Just as when we water the root of a tree all the leaves and branches are nourished, in a similar way since Krishna is the root of the entire existence, when we give our love to Krishna everything becomes all auspicious throughout the entire world. Therefore Krishna consciousness can easily in one stroke solve all the problems of the world. Whether or not the present day grossly misguided civilization will take to it is another matter. It is certainly highly unlikely. But it was also highly unlikely that Nelson Mandela, when he was a prisoner of the apartheid regime in South Africa, would someday become the president of South Africa. That he did so is certainly a miracle. So miracles do happen. This is why the devotees keep chanting, preaching, and praying for the ultimate miracle that the entire world will become Krishna conscious and that all problems which are plaguing the world society will thus be solved.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Who is this Krishna?

Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
