Is Krishna Consciousness Sectarian?

Sometimes foolish persons consider Krishna consciousness to be something sectarian, that it is another sect of religion. But this is not a fact. It is the original pure essence of existence itself. In other words when we strip away all of the myriad of misconceptions that have been heaped upon us for our entire lives by this overly materialistic society, we will return to our original pristine consciousness, Krishna consciousness. Religion, the process of re-linking with the Supreme, is one, to awaken one's dormant love for the Supreme Person. There cannot be many religions because religion is one. The concept of many religions is an illusion propagated by misguided, confused men.

First of all let me thank you from the bottom of my heart for your great teachings. Although I subscribed to "Thought for the Day" very recently, I have gained so much knowledge in just a short time.

I have a question: Why should we avoid Mayavadi philosophy? Can you please shed some light?

Answer: It Teaches You that You are God.

Mayavadi philosophy teaches you that you are God and that to become spiritually enlightened you simply have to now come out of hiding and be God once again. Since it is this foolish desire to be God that brought you here to material world in the first place, Mayavadi philosophy keeps you entrapped eternally in this material world until you give up the idea of being God and agree to become the surrendered servant of God.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
