Why Be a Hare Krishna?

At the Baltic Summer Vaisnava Festival after a super ecstatic kirtan that sent us flying through the stratosphere to the spiritual plane I asked the devotees, "Why be a Hare Krishna?" And then after a brief pause I gave the answer, "Because it is more fun." It is a fact. It is not exaggeration. There is truly nothing more enlivening than Krishna consciousness in all the three worlds. It is indeed a thrill at every moment!

Question: How to Transcend the Modes of Nature?

Dear Gurudeva,
Namaste.

I would like to ask the following question:

Lord Krishna is beyond three modes of material nature. In order to awaken our original Krishna consciousness one has also to go beyond three modes. How to acquire knowledge, dispassion, and devotion to go beyond three modes of material nature?

Answer: Chant Hare Krishna and Taste Prasadam

If you will accept Krishna prasadam, vegetarian foods offered to Lord Krishna with love and devotion, as your only foodstuff, and you will as much as much possible engage your tongue 24 hours a day in chanting Hare Krishna, you will easily transcend the modes of material nature and enter into the transcendental dimension, the spiritual plane, where life is eternal, full of knowledge, and overflowing with unlimited bliss.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
